Toughest 100 - Terms & Conditions

Entry

By entering The Toughest 100, all entrants herby adhere to the terms and conditions set out below.

All entrants must be over the age of 18 on the day of the event.

Refunds and Transfers 

BoC Escapes cannot refund event entry fees if you cannot attend the event for any reason. However, we will transfer your place to a nominated rider of your choice, as long you have updated us by email no later than 5 days before the event.

You may also defer your entry for 1 year, You may only defer an entry once.

To transfer your entry to another rider, please email us at hello@bandofclimbers.com with the details. All riders must provide photographic ID at sign on, before receiving their number and timing chip.

Event Cancellation

Should the event be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances outside the control of BoC Escapes, or due to force majeure (natural and unavoidable catastrophes) BoC Escapes cannot provide a refund for your entry fee. Your entry fee will be deferred to the same event the following year or you can transfer to another UK BoC Escapes event of your choice.

Bikes and Equipment

As this is a challenging cycling event, we strongly recommend that you use a road, gravel or CX bike. MTB’s are allowed, but it may increase the level of effort required to complete the ride. Small wheel bikes, E-Bikes, folding bikes, Tandems, fixed gear bikes or TT bikes are not allowed. No Tri bars or TT bars allowed.

Helmets are mandatory. No helmet, no ride. We will disqualify any rider caught riding without a helmet.

We recommend riding with a working rear light, although not essential. If you expect the ride to take over 10 hours, we recommend also using a front light.

Please do not litter. Bins will be provided in feed stations. Take your empty gel wrappers etc to the feed station to dispose of it.

Mechanical Support

It is your responsibility to make sure your bike and equipment is well maintained and suitable for the event. Consider the fact this ride takes in multiple climbs over 15%. At some point, you will wish you had more gears. Tyres and brakes should be in excellent condition.

There will be no mechanical support offered as part of this event. You must ensure that you carry enough basic tools or spares to get you back to the start/finish on your own accord.

There will be a broom wagon which will sweep the course at the end of the day, which may be able to help you, but please note the broom wagon is not designed to be a rescue vehicle and cannot be called to assist with mechanicals. 

Accidents and emergencies

In the case of a serious accident, dial 999. Be aware that the course is rural so it may take some time to reach you. We will have a first aid team at the start/finish area throughout the event.

Event Jersey

The Toughest 100 event jersey will be available for collection at sign on the day before or morning of the Toughest 100. All Jerseys are available by pre-order only and cannot be bought at the event. All pre-orders must be made before 10th June 2024.

Entry Disclaimer

By entering into any BoC Escape, (the Event)  you, the "Participant" agree with Band of Climbers Travel Ltd of Unit 33, Bellingham Drive, North Tyne Industrial Estate, Benton (the "Event Provider")  to the following:

You understand that you are participating in a very challenging cycling Event, in an extreme environment. As such, each Participant understands that they should be in good health upon entering the event, with a level of fitness appropriate to the event requirements.

The Participant agrees that they will obey all traffic regulations and rules in place in the location of the Event, and understands that they will be riding on open roads with vehicles and traffic, and that there may be unavoidable obstacles on the roads, such as roadworks, loose surfaces and construction furniture on the roads at any time. In rare cases, road conditions may dictate that the planned event route needs to change. The Participant understands that planned routes may need to change, due to factors beyond the control of the Event Provider.

The Participant agrees that they will ride within their own physical limits at all times, and not endanger themselves or other Event Participants or the general public.

The Participant acknowledges to the Event Provider that the Participant does not have any physical limitations, medical ailments, or physical or mental disabilities that would limit or prevent the Participant from participating in the Event. If required, the Participant will obtain a medical examination and clearance.

The Participant releases and forever discharges the Event Provider, its owners, directors, officers, employees, agents, assigns, legal representatives, and successors from all manner of actions, causes of action, debts, accounts, bonds, contracts, claims, and demands for or by reason of any injury to person or property, including injury resulting in the death of the Participant, which has been or may be sustained as a consequence of the Participant's participation in the Event.
