THE BoC TUSCANY ESCAPE

16 PLACES AVAILABLE

Join us for our brand new Tuscany Escape, a destination we've been in love with for so many years.

An Escape to Siena is an immersion in pure Tuscan elegance. Rolling hills brushed by golden light, ancient hilltop towns rising from the landscape, and the legendary white roads of the Strade Bianche guiding you through landscapes unchanged for centuries. Each ride reveals layers of history, from medieval walls to Renaissance masterpieces, with every turn offering a postcard-perfect view that feels both timeless and cinematic.

Over the course of 6 glorious days, you'll ride the historic gravel and tarmac roads of Tuscany. With rolling terrain throughout the region, there are no flat rides to be seen. The landscapes are up, or down, with some steep gradients along the way. This is a BoC Escape after all...

Our airport transfer operates on a schedule which is exclusive to our group. Please read on to ensure your flight plans match our transfer arrangements.

Arrivals : Please fly into PISA International Airport (PSA) BEFORE 11.00am on Sunday 11th October 2026, in order to join our scheduled transfer for our riders at circa 11.45am.

If you cannot find a flight that arrives before 11am, we suggest flying in on the 10th, and staying in our suggested Airport Hotel overnight, to join our transfer on 11th.

Departures : Please book a return flight from PISA International Airport (PSA) on Saturday 17th October to your chosen destination. Our scheduled transfer is based on the earliest flight time of all guests. But your flight should not be before 10am due to the transfer time to the airport (2 hours)

Any flights booked before 10.00am will require a private transfer at an additional cost of £400.

  • DAY ONE

    30km + 800m

    The Warm Up Ride

Day one on any BoC Escape is about arriving and preparing for the week ahead. After your transfer from Pisa, we'll build our bikes, and head out for an afternoon spin to shake out the legs on some local roads to the south east of Siena.

  • DAY TWO

    107km + 2000m

    Radda in Chianti

Today we ride north, on some of the classic trails of L'Eroica, into the heart of the The Chianti region, the essence of classic Italy.

Rolling vine-covered hills, stone farmhouses, and winding country roads will take us on a journey of adventure, with castles, towns and of course, classic Tuscany cuisine along the way.

  • DAY THREE

    110km + 2200m

    Montalcino

A big day today, as we venture south east of Siena over 15% gravel gradients to the beautiful Montalcino.

You'll ride through, peaceful backroads, passing quiet villages like Radi and Murlo.

As you continue south, the landscape gradually shifts into the distinct, lunar-like terrain of the Crete Senesi, known for its exposed chalk hills, cypress-lined drives, and singular, stark beauty.

  • DAY FOUR

    40km + 600m

    Siena Rest Day

After two big days, we enjoy a shorter day to allow you to explore Siena, one of the most beautiful walled cities in Europe.

You'll ride into the centre of Siena, to the incredible Piazza del Campo via the same route as Pogacar, Van der Poel and Cancellara in the famous Strade Bianche one day race. Be warmed, the climb into the centre is monstrously steep! You'll have time to explore Siena, and dine in the Piazza, before rolling back to the hotel to relax.

  • DAY FIVE

    110km + 1900m

    Monteriggioni

Today we head north west of Siena to Colle di Val d'Elsa, via the stunning walled castle town of Montreriggioni.

Our ride will take us around the city of Siena, before heading into the rolling hills of the north. After a lunch stop in the walled town, we head south and face one of the longest continuous climbs of the week, to the west of Siena. As we head further south into by now relatively familiar terrain, we return to the hotel for dinner and drinks.

  • DAY SIX

    100km + 1800m

    Asciano

For our final ride of the Tuscany Escape we head south east from our hotel to Asciano, an historic village immersed in the famous Crete Senesi. Once again our ride will combine the dusty gravel roads of the region with smooth tarmac.

The final day on any BoC Escape usually sees some tired legs, so an extra coffee or a short cut home is always an option for those who'd like an easier final day.

4 Star Hotel Accommodation

The BoC Tuscany Escape is based at a relaxing 4 star independent yet modern hotel on the outskirts of Siena. The hotel features bike storage with wash area and tools, a large heated indoor swimming pool, spa, sauna and cold plunge to aid recovery. Daily breakfasts and 3 course dinners are all included, with local Tuscan cuisine carefully chosen for our group.

Supported Rides

The BoC Tuscany Escape will be lead by our trusted ride guides, who will ride with you each day. A support van will also be on the road with us for our longer rides, meaning you're fully covered in the event of mechanicals or injury, as our van will take you back to the hotel safely.

Road Bike or Gravel Bike

The Tuscany Escape will be around 40% gravel, and 60% tarmac. However, the gravel roads we'll ride are historic, and have been ridden by cyclists on road bikes as part of L'Eroica, and the one day race Strade Bianche by the Pro's.

It's perfectly possible to ride the Tuscany Escape on a road bike. We'd recommend using 28mm or above tyres, with good grip. A gravel bike is not required, although by all means if you'd prefer to ride a gravel bike, feel free. We'd recommend a slick or semi slick tyre, no wider than 35mm. You won't require 50mm nobbly tyres for this one!

COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQ'S

What is the gravel like?

The gravel we'll ride on the BoC Tuscany Escape is historic. The famous white roads of L'Eroica and Strade Bianche will be our destination. These are very much roads, not single track or technical, and are used by cars as well as cyclists daily. There are some steep gradients of up to 18% on those gravel roads, but we consider the gravel to be non-technical and perfectly rideable on a road bike.

Should I bring a Road or Gravel Bike?

How fit do I need to be?

BoC Escapes are not races, they're an adventure. We ride socially, with a cafe/coffee stop midway through each ride.

That said, BoC Escapes are tough. You'll ride 6 back to back big days with up to 4000m of climbing (13,000ft) per day.

We would suggest you should be capable of climbing for at least 90 minutes at a gradient of 7% without stopping. Average speeds are very difficult to gauge, but most riders on our Escapes will average at least 10kph per hour (6mph) on a climb of 7%. Some will ride much quicker of course, but you are free to ride at your own pace.

We would suggest the trip is for intermediate or above level riders, or those with at least some experience of riding in the mountains and a decent level of fitness. At no point will any rider be left behind on their own for too long, as our guides will be on the road with you at all times and will always be close by.

We aim to ride as a group, although on long climbs we usually split up, before regrouping at the summits, or cafe stops if the temperatures at the summits are too cold.

Of course, some riders will be faster than others, but we try to keep any waiting times between the first and last riders reaching the summits to a minimum. You are free to ride at your own speed. This is not a race. It's a chance to test your own legs at your own pace.

Can I attend as a solo rider?

Absolutely! Around 95% of all our Escape riders come on their own. Making new friendships is a big part of our Escapes.

How do shared rooms work?

1. We do not mix males and females in shared rooms (unless booked as a couple or on request by both parties)

2. All rooms are twin beds, with en suite bathrooms

3. Rooms are allocated at random, unless booked as pairs or couples.

4. We can allocate rooms to friends on request (email us once booked)

5. If we have one single female, on a trip of 10 male riders, the female will be given a single room, to avoid sharing with a male (unless requested). Likewise, if we have a trip with 10 females, a solo male will be given a single room.

6. 95% of our guests come as solo riders. Making new friendships is a big part of our Escapes.

Can I have a Single Room?

A single room is available with a supplement of £400. Only a small number of single rooms are available on a first come, first served basis. To book a single room, select the single room option when booking online.

What support is available?

You will have 2-3 BoC ride guides on the road with you at all times. We'll ride with the group, and ensure no rider is left behind.

We also have our support van on the road which carry tools, spares, and your bad weather kit, plus energy gels and food. So you don't need to carry anything for too long.

If your legs decide to give up, or you need a rest, you are welcome to ride in the van and miss a climb or section if you need to, or end your ride early.

Is bike rental available?

Bike rental is not available on the BoC Tuscany Escape. Riders should plan on bringing their own bikes.

Are meals included?

All of our Escapes include Breakfasts and evening meals. In most locations, a set menu is offered with a 3 to 5 course evening dinner. Wine and Beer is included in some locations, but alcoholic drinks are extra in others.

We can cater for all dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan, gluten free etc...

Each day, we eat breakfast and dinner together, around one table. This allows further friendships to form away from the road. The dining experience is a big part of our Escapes!

Lunch is not included, as we stop at a cafe mid way around each ride. A typical lunch stop will take 30-40 minutes, and you are free to eat/drink whatever you choose from our planned cafe.

Cancellations and Refunds

Please view our cancellation and refund policy. We offer a simple and flexible policy which allows you to simply transfer to any other future Escape (subject to availability) should you need to cancel, even at short notice.

Who is a typical Escape rider?

Our riders travel from all over the world. We've had riders from South America, Australia, Asia, North America and across Europe. usually very keen cyclists, most Escape riders are aged between 25 and 55, although we've had younger, and older too!

Most riders travel individually, but we've had small groups of friends, married couples, mother and daughter and father son combos too! Everyone is welcome on a BoC Escape in a fully inclusive and supportive group.

Can I bring a non riding partner?

You can bring a non riding partner. We offer a discount of £150 from the total cost for a non rider. This discount is applied to the final balance invoice, so book your spaces by paying the deposit in full for the number of places you require. We discount the £150 from the final balance which is due 16 weeks before the Escape.
